Miriad makes first acquisition, in its Quest for growth

Staffordshire-based camping and leisure products specialists Miriad Products Ltd have progressed their ambitious growth plans by purchasing Quest Leisure Products Limited. A deal sealed this week brings the two companies symbiotically together.

Miriad and Quest have much in common:  both Midlands-based; both suppliers to the UK’s outdoor leisure industry; and both of a similar age, with a family feel and customer-focussed culture.

Quest, based in Redditch, have been in business for over 30 years.  Chris and Maggie Irving started Quest from a very small warehouse with a vision of being a dedicated sole supplier of many exclusive products and with the help of their dedicated staff have grown the business into a multimillion-pound business.   Chris commented, ‘’We are delighted to hand over our business to Miriad.  With our three co-directors, Adam, Louise and Kevin staying with the company, we know that the future is secure for our customers and staff alike ".

The Quest team has built a class-leading attitude to supplying and supporting the caravan, camping, garden centre, leisure and outdoor pursuits trade sectors. Adam Hughes, one of the Quest’s Directors for 10 years, comments, “These are exciting times to be in the staycation market and we’re delighted that Miriad have acquired our business. We have very complimentary product ranges and feel sure that our and Miriad’s customers will find much of interest in our combined offering.  It’s reassuring to know that the name, premises and staff, will be kept intact.”

Miriad CEO, Penny Whitelock is also feeling very positive about the acquisition, “It’s great to add Quest to our portfolio, as we share many values, such as our customer-focus and partner-based approach to our retailers. The move will see new, national distribution opportunities for both companies, and much potential for future growth both in terms of sales, and importantly, for staff development too. We look forward to the continuation of providing excellent service to our entire retail network.”

Miriad moved to their Uttoxeter-base earlier this year, significantly increasing the warehouse capabilities of their former, Derbyshire home. Highly motivated, and with this recent acquisition, they are firmly on course to achieve their 25 % growth ambition, by 2024. Since moving to Staffordshire Miriad have recruited 7 new heads across all aspects of the business and engaged with multiple local traders to support them with the move. The mission at Miriad is: ’To supply leading, ever-changing leisure stock to retailers, manufacturers and OEMS, available 24/7.’ The addition of Quest to the group portfolio is an enabler to meet these expectations.
